ImageOur missionary this year will be Barbara Pinkley from World Gospel Mission.

Barbara Pinkley was born in Mansfield, Ohio, and grew up on the Texas-Mexico border. Barbara has a nursing degree from Arizona State University, a certificate of midwifery from University of Mississippi Medical Center, and a master’s degree in nursing from Case Western Reserve University (Ohio) where she became certified as a family nurse practitioner.

Barbara has served in various capacities at Tenwek Hospital, Kenya, Africa, since her appointment with WGM. She has been a nurse, midwife, assistant matron, nursing school instructor, and assistant/acting principal of the nursing school. Barbara was also instrumental in the opening of the School of Nursing at Tenwek.

After her homeland ministry assignment, Barbara will return to Kenya to serve as an instructor and supervisor of students at the Tenwek School of Nursing. She will also continue serving as a discipleship group leader. 

Tenwek Hospital , one of the largest Protestant hospitals in Kenya, was founded by WGM in 1935. Working under the motto "We Treat, Jesus Heals," the hospital operates healthcare centers, mobile clinics, dispensaries, and a nurses’ training program while ministering to the physical and spiritual needs of more than 100,000 patients each year.

World Gospel Mission is an interdenominational missionary organization with more than 300 missionaries and support staff serving alongside national believers on six continents. WGM’s strategic areas of service include church ministries, children’s and youth ministries, educational ministries, medical ministries, support ministries, and humanitarian ministries. The
organization also partners with stateside churches, colleges, and individuals to send 1,100 volunteers annually on shortterm missions experiences.
